Week #1: What is Global Warming? What are the causes? 

Materials: Team Research Notes, Internet, and "The Down-to-Earth Guide to Global Warming"

Task: Use the resources below to fill out your Team Research Notes .  You will visit at least two websites and at least one book from the classroom.

Internet Resources: Visit #1 first.

1)  http://www.epa.gov/climatechange/kids/version2.html  (Watch all 5 scenes of this video and then take the global warming quiz to complete a world puzzle.)

2) http://www.epa.gov/climatechange/kids/gw.html  (Great definition of global warming.)

3)  http://video.nationalgeographic.com/video/player/environment/ Click on Global Warming and then the video global warming 101.  This video is a nice overview of what global warming is and how it is affecting our Earth. *

4)  http://www.factmonster.com/spot/earthday1.html  Look around this site to find great definitions of key terms and some math data related to global warming.  Type global warming in the search box to find more information.

Week #2: How is Global Warming Impacting our Earth?  

Materials: Team Research Notes, Internet and "The Down-to-Earth Guide to Global Warming "

Task: Each member of your team will choose one topic to research from the list below.  Answer the questions in your Team Research Notes.

Wacky Weather Topics:  1) hurricanes   2) Floods   3) Heat Waves

(melting glaciers/rising sea level)                                       Good news for fish (rising sea level + human health/spreading disease)  Storms ahead (wacky weather) 

3)http://video.nationalgeographic.com/video/player/environment/  Click on Global Warming and pick one video to watch:  Glacier melt, Antartic ice, A way forward facing climate, Threats to animals (Pick any endangered animal video). 

4) http://climatehotmap.org/harbingers.html Scroll down to find your topic: spreading disease, endangered animals (coral reef/plant and animal shift), wacky weather (droughts, fires, flooding).  This site also has great evidence of global warming. 

5) http://www.stopglobalwarming.org/sgw_learnmore.asp  Topics on this site include: Environmental Destruction, Health Risks, Catastrophic Weather.

Task:  Investigate animals that are being affected by global warming.  Pick one animal to further investigate and to do research about. Fill in your research notes.
